Just as we thought we couldn't possibly write any more about Modern Warfare 2, something else crops up about the record-breaking title. The most impressive piece of news to emerge today is that MW2 has attracted 25 MILLION unique players, a feat which we're sure you'll find as impressive as we did. Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling broke news via his favourite medium, Twitter when he Tweeted, "...annnd we JUST hit 25 MILLION unique players on Modern Warfare 2. Insanity! Also, got a lot of #MW2 DLC details coming this week! FINALLY!"
Bowling then clarified his statement by informing us all that this is a cross platform figure with the most users coming from Xbox 360, the PS3 a close second and 'millions more on PC'. Also announced in the same Twitter exchange was the news that the Xbox 360 will be receiving a patch for the game's Matchmaking Mode, something the PS3 got a while back. Bowling revealed that it would be released prior to incoming DLC for the game. He Tweeted, "We'll be patching prior to DLC that will include the same matchmaking update for 360 that PS3 got, along with other updates."
Clever timing by the Infinity Ward boss to detail all of this information shortly before the expected release of the first batch of MW2 DLC. It acts as just a brief reminder of the game's existence, as if we could forget! A specific release date on the DLC is expected this week and we'll bring that to you as we get it.
